Atypical Facial Pain? Best Dr.?, Dr. Casey

I'm looking for suggestions on top Dr.'s for Atypical Facial Pain..or just figuring what's wrong with me. I live in a rural area and our Dr.are NOT the best. Has anyone see Dr. Casey for Atypical Facial Pain? I just don't want to see someone that has tunnel vision. I have constant pain above teeth, gum, jaw, temple some..spasm feeling. above ear some, eye pulling constant. 3660 mg gabapentin and 400mg tegretol helps but still in pain. I think it's some type of TN but my Dad has made a good point..go somewhere that will give you the right dx then look for treatment.

Google, and get his office number…nurse will tell you what he does for those with ATN.

I friended you. KC. As of now I have Atypical Facial Pain in the Trigeminal Nerve area. I greatly thank you for all the info and I have planned on messaging you for his information. I did call and the receptionist said, uh I believe so regarding ATFP. I just want to make sure where ever I go it's an overall look approach as all my symptoms aren't standard. I have no doubt he's amazing for TN1 and ATN but what if it's something altogether different especially pertaining to my eye. I want to find out if anyone on here has 1st hand experience with on a ATFP dx and treatment from him.

You may also want to try Dr. Jeffrey Brown in NY. I have bilateral ATN, in addition to a Chiari Malformation. He gave me my definitive diagnosis, and performed my surgeries. Like Dr. Casey he is an expert in TN in all its forms, and I have found him to be an excellent diagnostician. Kathy is his assistant, and she is very helpful, should you decide to call.
Best of luck
Christine

He's on the facial pain association board! I think he has had his hands in more heads than any other on the planet with nerves of the face/head..... I think he will know what your options are. : ) It took me only 8 weeks to get in. Depending on what he sees in the emails back and forth and what he sees in your local docs info. Sometimes he is out of the country for short periods of time.

I have bilateral TN, atypical on the left and type 1(or typical) on the right. My symptoms were almost identical to yours. The eye pain was excruciating. Dr Casey is the guy to go to. He gets ATN. I had MVD in Aug on my left side (ATN) side and the constant ATN pain is gone on that side.

Oh thank you so much. That helps me so much!
