after my last neurologist appointment, he put me on a blood pressure pill. I have only took it twice and the past few days my TN has been worse. Could be a coincidence or the weather, but just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I usually don't have an issue with my BP. I wonder if it's the Tegretol.
From the day I first had TN my blood pressure has been elevated. I am currently having tests looking for an underlying cause for the TN, as I am having a whole bunch of nasty issues....but no one has said or has had an answer for why my blood pressure is so elevated. I never had an issue before the Tn first struck.
You know, i never had BP problems before...but after all this TN stuff...and after i was started taking the meds, i needed to be put on BP med. I didn't actually connect the two...but now that you mention it... hmmmm
I am not suffering now since my MVD, but my blood pressure is still high as hell...also I have been Vitamin D deficient since this all began as well..I think its all connected somehow
I had to take a blood test before they gave me tegretol ...the three days i was on it my heart kinda hurting scary i had a adverse reaction to the tegretol made me feel worse and the heart thing scared me i had to get off. I seriously think its from the meds. Did you read the side effects list when they gave you the pills??? I still have the meds and info I will look it up.
My high blood pressure didn't start until my neuralgia did. I'm almost 7 months into my hateful relationship with TN and it continues to stay pretty much the same. I wasn't on any meds when it started. Even though I'm now on Norvasc and Vitamin D (dx. low Vit D 2 mths ago), it doesn't go down. Yesterday, while not in much pain at all it was 153/103 and that's better than what is has been. The only thing that makes a difference is Ativan. That brings it down a little. All my docs seem to feel that once my neuralgia is resolved my blood pressure will stabilize. I wonder if my heart and arteries will wait that long. The pain is bad enough, then add the panic of having HBP....scary and exhausting.
My bp was a steady 118/78ish for as long as I can remember. It was even that low when I first started to have the TN attacks three years ago. It wasn't until I was placed on Gabapentin/Hydrocone/Ampatrypiline (Sorry about the spelling) that my bp went up. Last time it was taken it was 125/95. Doc says that's ok but I know it's high for me. It's been this way for almost a year now. I blame it on the pain and the meds and the stress of knowing I have TN. I'm going to have an MVD in June so I'm hoping after that I will fall back to normal....I hate thinking about the damage I'm doing to my body taking everything. Here's to a pain free life lived long and full, this is my hope for all of us who suffer
Pain itself causes mine to go high, stress as well. Talk to your pharmacists as well regarding if medicines might be causing yours. Wishing you pain free days as well!
It could be Tegretol and the other nasty stuff we take. But i agree it's mainly pain and stress.I would always have to add a b.p. pill when i had a flareup.
my blood preasure goes up when pain is bad.. that's natural for body to go.. I am on b/p meds now.. before I went on tegrytol for pain my blood preasure would go up to 189/100..when weather isdamp the pain id worse also.
I have high blood pressure and have been on medication for it for a few years. It runs in my family. When I am at the doctor or the hospital my blood pressure is always really high because of anxiety. Also if my TN pain is bad it makes my blood pressure rise as well.
You have to be careful with this because it can also be a side effect from certain medications. My doctor kept getting high readings so she sent me home with a 24-hour blood pressure machine and it came back normal.
