I have been fighting the worse Acne problem of my life that started just a couple weeks after being diagnosed with TN. I asked my neurologist if it had anything to do with my meds (Lyrica and Gabapentin) and he said no. I went to the GP and they tested my blood for thyroid issues and it all came back neg. I also have been fighting horrendous insominia (even on the zombie meds) and my cycle is ALL screwed up. I am trying to figure out what the heck is going on, but the neuro and the GP just kinda dropped it. Meanwhile, Having severe acne on my FACE while having TN completely STINKS! My face hurts below and above my skin! I was curious to see if anyone else is having the same problems. Thanks
Hi tinah,
I don't know if I am similar but I can share my story. I've been fighting my facial pain for 10 months now and within those 10 months my menstrual cycle has been completely haywire. For 20 years I have had a very predictable, normal and uneventful cycle and this past year it has become a mess. It comes up to 9 days early. Sometimes 6 days late. It is so heavy I want to jump off a cliff and my body simply hates me until it is over.
All hormone tests are negative. The Gyno has I am a healthy female. I am not pre-menopausal. Yet this began at about the same time my face pain and nerves began to "fray."
A connection? I can't find one but I also cannot ignore the timing and lack of cause for both.
Thank you so much for your reply. I was beginning to think I was crazy. Yes, my cycles are all messed up too. I have always been a little irregular as the timing, but now I am having 2 and 3 per month! I too thought I was pre-menepausal, but the dr says no. I also have seriously dry skin and my nails are like paper mache, they tear, break, peel, and crack. It all started about 3 weeks after starting my meds. Can I ask you what meds you are on? I started out on Lyrica and now am on Gabapentin. My neuro says it's not my meds, but the corrolation between timings is too much to be consequential. Thanks again for sharing your story and I do hope you find relief soon!
I was only diagnosed this weekend so I have no real experience with this but 5 weeks ago when i started having acute facial pain attacks i also brokeout very badly but only on my left side of my face where the pain also is. You could run a ruler down my face and make me a before and after for whatever acne treatment you were hocking. My mother thought it was because i was touching my face more because of the pain. I have a hormone condition already but rarely breakout very badly, since my drs thought i had a very painful sinus and ear infection they just thought that it was many tiny infections related to that and it has since cleared up but the pain hasn't.
I also have the same dilemma! About a month or two after the pain started my face began to break out like crazy. I am an esthetician so I know a thing or two about skin care and my skin hardly ever broke out previously. And now I am also finding my cycles are off. Prior to the pain I had the most easy going, hardly any cramps kinda period to absolute awfulness. Plus I find I get hot flashes and I’m only 28, so I’m doubting I’m menopausal…it’s just such a coincidence that it all happened when the pain started up. I see this is an older thread, but I’m hoping other people with chime in again with their opinions!
