Hello,first post here,
I have ATN, diagnosed October 2015. However, I believe I've had it since 1993, and probably since I was a child. In 1993 I had a stroke and developed ATN symptoms in my right eye socket and a bit of numbness on the side of my head. I did not know why. Then in October 2015 I had an upper right side molar shaped for a crown and the problems began...
Since 1993 I purchased about a dozen stronger pair of eyeglasses and had to take them all back because the increased strength changed the geometry of my eyeball and pressed on the trigeminal nerve. Once, it was so bad I went deaf for a week after wearing new eyeglasses for five minutes! Still, no diagnosis...
After October 2015 I had a test with electrical stimulation and was found to have hyper transmission in the V1 nerve distribution. The left side of my head was normal. On the right side, when a minuscule amount of electricity was applied to a probe taped to my face, I usually could not feel it. But when the electrical stimulation was administered to where I had a stroke in 1993, I flinched and said "ouch." I should have not been able to feel it at all. That is the difference in nerve transmission from normal, quite a bit! It's called hyper transmission. Interestingly, the affect of taking amphetamines, already a speeder upper, is similarly amplified! Very destructive. I used to be able to enjoy them, as a kid...
Now-- In Oct. the ATN pain was in the shaped tooth and caused so much anxiety that I had to spend about 20 nights in the Greyhound Bus Terminal at night because I could not stay alone and in my house at night! Eventually, that subside and became ok. Then I got that same tooth root canaled, and the pain came back for awhile. Then I got the root canal filled and the pain has returned, but is now different, and that is why I write this letter...
Rather than being a general dull pain in the tooth, like before, the pain is decidedly different. Because of that, I think this is regular tooth pain issues, on top of ATN, and that pulling it will help. I now get a sharp not to bad pain at the tip of the tooth root, occasionally. I get headaches on that side now. Thinking problems without taking any medication. It causes stress and some pain there. I sometimes feel pressure, where I just want to rip that tooth out! Changes in the weather cause issues, and Advil most times helps, or I use Capsisin. I believe my ATN is subsiding each time I have a dental procedure, and if this tooth was pulled, I would be ok. All in all,it feels very different from the first two dental procedures. Will it turn my ATN into TN?
