After RF rhizotomy procedure

Would like to hear from someone recovering from a RF rhizotomy. My procedure was done 8 weeks ago. I am still having the itching, needle pricks occasionally and the ache below ear and cheek sometimes. I am told to expect the numbness. The pain is nothing like the excruciating TN pain I was having before the rhizotomy.

I had 2 partial rhizotomies with my MVD in April. The itching does slowly go away  I still find that my scar itches from time to time, though. It’s the permanent numbness that I have challenges with. I no longer have the TN pain around my right eye, but the nerve damage from the rhizotomy caused permanent numbness to the right side of my tongue and mouth. I don’t really taste foods well any longer. The numbness in the back of my head around the surgical area has gotten smaller in size about 3 months after surgery.

I had a Percutaneous Stereotactic Rhizotomy about a year ago.i have more numbness than I Or rmy doctor expected. It only bothers me around my eye.The numbness is about the same as it was in the beginning.I am glad I had it done and should the pain come back I will have it done again.I have some itching in my schaap. The numbness goes from my lower left lip to a point on my schaap and is about 3 inches wide.I have no pain.

Thanks, it is a relief to hear about others after rhizotomy symptoms. After 2 months I still have numbness and and sometimes the needle like pains. Finally eating a little better. I am happy not to have the electric shocks. Thanks for your comment. Hopefully ther will be more comfort soon.

From listening to your comments, I feel I am not alone with the prolonged symptoms after rhizotomy. I didn’t hear anyone mention the needle like jabs that are sometimes present. Even with those and the numbness and itching, I am thankful not having those horrible electric shocks. I am three months out now. Maybe soon I will be able to eat normally.
