I have type 1 TN and when the meds are working I can go weeks or sometimes months without an episode but before I was diagnosed and sometimes if for some reason my meds levels get screwed up because I forget to take them or run out for a few days I have occasional brief periods of incredibly intense pain.
My first question is this: Are there TN sufferers who experience constant pain or when people talk about "daily pain levels" are they rating the intensity of attacks that day?
My second question concerns kind of a subjective subject: On the 1 to 10 scale, what is 10? The worst episode I've experienced to date had me on the floor in the fetal position crying hysterically and begging it out loud over and over again to stop. Is that a 10 (I hope...)?
Question 1; yes there are TN sufferers who experience constant pain, type 2 TN is more constant. However Type 1 can be repetitive =constant…
In my personal experience my worst day was Nov.29th, 2012: 13 hours non-stop of both Type 1&2. I was on my knees begging a higher power for mercy, I wanted to die (not suicidal) to this day I don’t know how I really survived…sounds similar to your description.
Question 2; the 1-10 pain scale is what all doctors / specialists use so it’s important to really gauge what your 1-10 levels are. ( we all have different pain thresholds)
In my opinion there’s 4 and then there’s OFF the charts… ; )
But most medical professionals would probably consider that dramatic! LoL
So take the time to really “think” about your 1-10 if 10 is worst pain known to mankind and if 0 is no pain, then figure it our from there… Again it is subjective as some are more sensitive, and some have higher pain thresholds.
