Wondering about new pain area

Lisa, I love breathing warm air through blanket, scarf or what ever. Comforting. Hang in there!!!!

Hey Rick, Love the "Taser Jolt" remark!! That is what it is like!!!! Being Tasered!!!! My husband got it too!!!!!

It is the best explanation I've heard yet! Blessing all.

Hi Kimburlee,

My reply words to you just disappeared on me. (???) Still getting re-acclimated to this Forum. What a waste of wisdom that I wanted to share and now can't remember...

Oh Well, here you go: "Don't Taz me, BRO!!!" *@ the link below* Ha-ha, Rick

Well, the mask did not work.. well it probably would have, but it hurt too much to wear.

Strangely, whether it was a coincidence or not, I took advil and the stabbing nose pain stopped. Weird... I think I will try my buff next time if the advil does not work.

Still more new pain... this time the temple and eye again, but the eyelid instand.... grr.

Lisa, I often get new pains. Sometimes I wonder if part of the problem is that I spend every second of every day analyzing my face. I usually wait until I've had the new pain for a couple of weeks before I become concerned. I think I'm so hyper-aware of my face that I notice things other people might feel and not think twice about. I don't know...obviously if it is super severe pain then that's a different story.

Lisa, I had the same experience 4 weeks ago. that after I had taken carbamazepine and was improving I started getting worse again with severe pain in my temple, jaw and upper teeth area. I could not move my jaw at all. I called my pharmacist to see if I could take asprin with my meds and she sain yes. I took asprin and within 2 doses ALL my pain was gone!! I called neuro that monday and they were surprised. There must have been some inflamation. All I know is that it brought me relief. I hope you get better!

Lisa,

You can read my full story on my profile, and my situation is different because I have lupus...but I was taking pretty high doses of ibuprofen until my anti-seizure meds could kick in. I am taking trileptal. The ibuprofen helped a ton with general headache pain and neck pain, along with some other things, but only briefly dulled other stuff.

I wanted to ask...do you ever get pain in the bridge of your nose? I was getting that pretty bad for a few weeks, along with all the other pain. My pain migrates all over the place and my neuro didn't seem to surprised by this. In fact, it was one of the top things told him last visit.

Jess: Nothing in the bridge of my nose. Just the inside of my nose when I breathe.

Crystal: I think you are right, I am over analyzing my face pain. I just wait for the next pain somewhere that didn't hurt before. Who knows, perhaps there is something between my expecting to get pain somewhere and getting it. Like I send the pain signals there....

Mostly I deal with the feeling of pressure. This morning it is pressure in my cheekbone. I won't call it painful as much as uncomfortable, alien, and just annoying.

Interesting. I haven't read a lot of posts where people are experiencing the nose pain. Mine started from the left ear, cheek and into the left side of my nose. Sometimes it feels like I have to blow my nose but nothing is there. Mine all started after a nasty sinus infection and a lot of anxiety. I have recently been started on Neurontin, so far nothing but I'm on a really low dose right now. My pain is more the atypical TN that is there all the time. I feel for each of you and wish you the best.

Lisa I am sorry you are dealing with this pain, it is horrible when we get new pain. I have the same issue with breathing and am going to try Red's suggestion.

Red thanks for the suggestion of the scarf, I am also getting pain when I breathe through my nose or mouth. The nights and early mornings are getting colder in Sydney and breathing seems to be more of a problem. This will be my first winter with TN.

Hope the pain settles down Lisa.

Hugs

Trish

Trish, if you're in Sydney, then you're probably within driving distance of at least one of the TN Association's support groups. You might find it helpful to talk with others in person about what they do to deal with sensitivity to cold air. If you're not already a member of the Face Pain Association, I'd recommend that you get a login (it's free) and look up their support group contacts.

Regards and Best.

Hi Red,

Thanks for the help, I have joined the australian association and have been contemplating going to one of the support groups.

Quite honestly I am finding the whole thing a bit overwhelming at the moment so it is probably worth me biting the bullet and getting along to one of the groups.

I really appreciate all that you do here.

Hugs

Trish
