My GP says I cannot be referred to a neurologist until the pain is under control with medication; everyone’s situation is different though and this flare up of TN for me started on 6th Oct. I had previous attacks in 2007, 2008 & 2009 but they did not last as long and were not as intense or at the pain level that has been reached this time!
Wraggy - That is really odd, since the neurologist is the expert on medical and surgical treatments. What health system encumbers you so much? As I wrote in this forum, my GP totally failed to diagnose TN. If you have the resources, enlist a neurologist on your own. If you're truly stuck, best luck for the GP to prescribe an effective med in proper dosage. -- Priscilla

Interesting how people can be told different things. One is told 3 years for best MVD outcome. I was told 7.
