What drugs do you take?

Hey Lynsey...

No i've not heard of Dr Burdette....however, i'm still at the very beginning of my TN journey (officially anyway). I have my first neurologist appt coming up in september. I know nothing about any of the drs here in town. So if Dr burdette turns out to be pretty good, let me know!

As for baclofen and all the other stuff i take all the time....yeah, i feel all messed up all the time now, but i just deal with it. It's better to be "drunk/high" than be in pain, i guess. The baclofen still makes me very sleepy/drunk freeling....at first i cut them in half until i could handle a whole pill. In a recent really bad flare up, i added an extra one and omg! i was really doped up..staggering through the house like a zombie. *laughs*

I really wish we could all get the benefits of our pills without the side effects...

~Hoping we all find some relief we can stand!

Hey Gal....

BURDETTE is the DMD TMJ dentist. So we shall see about him and it!

Which neuro are you seeing, cause I've been looking for one over there who maybe handles TN? I'm NEW to TN too, just since spring. My GP (internist) told me the other day, he didn't really know anyone in this area in Neurology, who really specializes in this direction. Did say, after being on meds and all for awhile, I might want to go to, Indy, U of K, or to Mayo to get a better handle on it.

Dunno yet about any of those decisions!

Have as GOOD a DAY as Possible Everyone,

Lynsey

I just wanted to add something I’ve learned of Tegretol ( which I’m still on) the extended release form worked 100x better for me as it lasts double the amount of time in your system.its a slower release and longer lasting…
So something for all you tegretol users to try before you switch to a different med if tegretol has been effective for you in the past.
Also, baclofen aids as a booster to tegretol for it to be more effective if tegretol or tegretol CR aren’t working as well…

I only used those for sciatica but I used both Oxycontin and oxycodon along with meloxicam for anti inflammatory and carbamazopine for tn. i was quite out of it for 9 months until I finally had back surgery. Still....never missed a day of work til the day before surgery but then i took 2 months for recovery

Neuro is giving me oxycontin instead of oxycodone to try, but other than that he seems to be out of ideas.

'HEY ain't no one paying me to do his job.' Love your insight Dawn. Awesome. So tired of being financially bled dry and still no relief.

Hi pierre, i just happened on here and saw yours and Jackies doeses of lyrica. All i can say is all drs. must all have different computer scites they go by. I guestion my drs. so much they show me where they get their info from. They tell me i am maxed out at 200 mgs aday so ya alls guess is as good as mine you would think they could come together on somethig as simple as dosages ha ha.So far the lyrcia has been an awesome medicine for me it has kept those HORRIBLE eye attacks at bay i can tell their still there but not very bother some now only 2 or 3 little ones a month instead of one or 2 a week and you know who i have to thank ?You all by making it possible to see what's out there and what works for some may work for someone else .We end up doing the work of some of the drs. the last one i just canned said he was trying to help me he was bending over backwards.I said was medicine did you offerme to try because i was in HORRIBLE pain and did not look up anything this time.So guess what he didn't 't know what to give me.HEY ain't no one paying me to do his job. I just want this nightmare to end NOW!!! YOU know that might be a good one to try that there Norteiptyline I know someone and her daughter take it for migrains anyone have any luck with it for the burning, nothing, aching, pain or any other suggestions. Please HUG TO ALL!

Hey Mistee and WHOEVER else reads this; I still need HELP, seem to not be finding the right answers!

I saw Dr. Burdette, who seems to specialize in a lot of different types of facial pain. Therapy and more is offered there, but his office is too far out in Louisville, for me to make regular visits. You have to remember, I had a problem finding someone who would accept Medicare which most of this is ran through instead of my extra Dental coverage!

They did make the mold for me a new night guard, to help with the clenching and etc.. He gave me the referral for a therapist in Southern Indiana who I am to see in the morning for first visit before my regular Dr., immediately afterwards. Then, in the afternoon, I have the dreaded Dental appointment for a cleaning, and to see about any other fillings and etc., needed before the final fitting for the guard which I am supposed to wear as much as possible. Three appointments in one day could very possible be a NIGHTMARE!

I'm having problems taking 3xDay Carbamazepine ER 200mg, very wonky, and almost every night severe headaches, if taken very late. Have tried switching around the times, and its not helping much! Going to ask my Dr. about possibly adding in Lamictal (cannot take Neurontin). The Baclofen 3x day now seems Ok, and the Nortriptiline 2x Day, has to be taken by 5PM or earlier, because it keeps me awake instead of making me drowsy. Advil or naproxen seems to help me more then the dam narcotics, and I am taking Phenegran when the attacks demand something else, as it seems to help relaxation in addition to preventing nausea attacks.

My husband and I have both noticed now, I am starting to forget things (never, ever had this problem) on these drugs, like the timing for paying bills! Have had to start making more STICKY NOTES!!!

My worse attacks, really really seem to now be originating about 2 inches over behind my left ear. It starts building with burning throbbing, like this past Friday. Was worse on Saturday during the day, then during that night became a hellava lot worse! By Sunday morning, I was taking everything in the house, lying or sitting with ice pack every 15 minutes on the back of my neck, rag on my forehead, and the ice pick darts were shooting in my ear with fullness and pops, with left eye watering, and not right with pieces of images on outside edges. I am tilted to one side again, and the burning/soreness on back of head is still there this morning. Am not chewing anything in case, doing liquid foods as can swallow Ok for now!

Anyone> Doesn't this sound like something to do with the OCCIPITAL in some way or other?

Really searching for the right path through the trees here, especially since have 3 appointments tomorrow, and have already had MRI's...next test needed???

Appreciate any responses,

Mercy needed for us all, Lynsey
