I know this may sound like a weird question, but where exactly do you put the lidocaine patch? I asked my doc about the patch and he said I shouldn't use it because I would be walking around with a big patch on my face. Instead, he gave me a lidocaine creme. wondering if the patch might work better. creme usually helps some with the throbbing but doesn't last very long. thanks!

I am glad you said this because I had a terrible reaction to Tegretol... couldn't use my hands at all. Maybe I will check with my doc about trying Trileptal.

I am sorry we weren't able to chat today... I hope you are able to find something that works for you.
I use to take nortriptilyne and it helped me with the constant throbbing.
It can be so discouraging when you try so many things and nothing seems to help. hang in there, take it one day at a time, or if you have to, one hour at a time.

Michelle…I already have some nerve damage from the MVD. I have approximately 25% sensation loss on the left side of my face…but, the pain at that time was horrendous. He felt that more destruction of the nerve would lead to more untreatable pain for me. About the pns…there is a one week trial before the permanent placement. The wires are placed in your face but, the battery is not implanted. If you have good response during that week then u can have the complete system implanted. So I guess the answer is NO unfortunately it doesn’t work for everybody. I hope u are having some better moments today!!
