# Type 2 pain odd feelings

Does anyone get by there upper lip and lower lip, its like a quivering sensation. You can't see it but its very annoying. The nerve seems to be so irritated, it doesn't know what to do.

I do but it's not on my TN side (go figure!) ... I have TN on my left side and sometimes I get the quivering upper lip on my right side like someone has attached a string to it and is pulling it up and letting it down again really fast (and you can see it visibly). I figure I have TN on my left side and my quivery thing is probably the 8th cranial nerve rather than the 5th. So I got stuff both sides lucky me! :P I think the quivery thing is a random irritation now and then as it happens maybe once every few months.

I have that EVERY morning.....but it doesn't hurt. Man, now I Know I'm not craZy. lol

I have it at the corner of my mouth and right side of my top lip. buzzing and at times like an electric shock. Happens most evening. i also have that sensation inside behind my top teeth. yep. Feels like a fly that's trapped. Lol.

Yes, it is very good. I told my fiance/husband, Rik, that I have joined this sight and he was very happy that I did. He does understand to an extent and is even doing research with me, however, I do not feel that he truly knows how serious of a disorder it is. I have not had it very long, but I believe I have had various symptoms for at least a few years.
As for the feelings in the lips, the only feeling I ever get in that area is a feeling that they are swollen and they aren't.

Yes Min, Glad to get any responses. Everything I have seems to be odd. I get this quivering feel many times through out the day. Its the very least of my pain. My right side is the worst. My face always feels twisted. No one can see it, but I sure do feel it. I wish there was some meds I could take to get rid of this stiffness feeling. Sometimes it lets up for no reason, but not totally. Them Bam I am twisted up again. Maybe there is something and doctors are just not getting it! Its the worst part of this facial Crap! Nortriptyline helps with my mouth pain. Gabapentin for burning Pain. I just want my face to feel normal and not twisted like a knot from side of nose to cheek. God please give me back my face! I'll be good I promise.

I know.. I just meant that if a person who didn't have what we have were to read these posts... I wonder what they would think we were talking about?!????
The fly thing... Hmmmm ....sometimes it feels like my lip is humming with an electric current running thru it or something. IDK
No one outside of this group would understand what in the baGGEEEbeees I was talking about.
I wish I could give you your face back Pebbles. It is just crazy the little things we deal with along with the pain of having this crap!

Something that has happened to me only 4 times is with my eyebrow. I experienced a tight feeling in my left brow (tn side) and it felt like it was being pulled down or drooping. It only lasted a few seconds and within about15 minutes I was hit with severe pain. It happened once when my sister was around, when I asked if it was drooping she said no and asked why. Felt really weird when it happened and has only happened 4 times.

I new what you meant. It sounds like we are a bunch of crazies. I use to be a funny person, out going and silly. I am sorta finding my way back. I have to learn to live with this facial pain. I have to admit so far I am on very low dose of meds. Hard to believe after so much pain. I do have room for improvement. I just deal with some of the pain. A sting here and there, the stiffness which sometimes feels like cracked glass when I try and crunch my cheek. I do have vein compression on both sides. Drilling a whole in my head is not an option right now. I am leaving it in gods hands for now. He helped me through Uterine cancer, so I am hoping he gets me through this pain.

Pebbles, I don't have the cracked glass, which sounds quite horrid.. but something related~I have what feels like someone taking a piece of cut glass and running from left to right over and over constantly on my chin just below my lip. This is what I take Amitriptyline for. Had it not been for this drug...oh boy it is real bad burning feeling. I still feel it towards the end of the day. But only at a level 3 to 4.

Yes cracked glass is feeling better. The last med was a round a prednisone for 6weeks. before that started gabapentin which was the one helped with burning/cracked glass feeling. The burning was like you described. Now I have swollen feet and ankles, hoping from pred, and not gaba. Was on gaba since Feb, with no problem. Doctor said give it more time. Been off pred 4wks now and she said effects can linger for some months. If it doesn't going to have to consider if its the gaba, which I only take 500-600mg a day.

Oh, I am glad to hear that. Well I have heard that steroids do take awhile to get out of your system. Maybe your doc can give you something else.. I take oxycodone for the burning pain on my chin when it gets to me in the afternoon. It works pretty well for me. If it ever doesn't.. I am going to ask my doctor if he can up the Amitriptyline. But hopefully it won't come to that, as I don't want to get worse..

I get that buzzing feeling in the right side of my top and lower lips usually every morning. Buzzing is a good way to describe it, it's the strangest feeling - feels numb on the inside but not the outside.
