GbI have had this surgery 53 years ago. Medicine has advanced. Many have found relief with MVD and with tegretol tablets. Google  
But unfortunately I find that even after MVD the pain returns after some time.  
If the pain is uncontrollable, & even MVD operation shows no compression of trigeminal nerve by blood vessels, the surgeon may cut the nerves at stem
