Spikiegirl, by “GR” are you referring to gamma radiation? Or what? I had the Gamma Knife (not sure, but I think its gamma radiation) treatment in 2000 and it worked well for 9 years. Then it came back 9 years later like a locomotive at full speed. They then gave me the Cyber Knife treatment and I can’t find what type of radiation it uses. I’ve been left with no pain 95% of the time, some very minor pain on short occasions, but with some numbness. Despite the numbness I’m 95% pain free and I take Lyrica for the incidental issue of numbness and very minor occasional pain. It does not work for everyone. The key is finding the right neurosurgeon that has a lot of experience with TN. My neurosurgeon was more supportive of the GK and CK than the MVD surgery. If you are still having pain I would check around for an excellent neurosurgeon. They are usually in the bigger cities where larger medical centers are located.

Day stay. Injection into area( mine is left eye area) I have had it done twice. Both times the pain immediately was gone afterwards for years.
Before those injections I had an “MVD” which obviously was a big deal operation since they cut your head open. The pain was gone BUT returned only 2 weeks later!!
If my pain returns I will undergo another glycerol rhizotomy.

So far, I have done 10 acupuncture sessions by a community doctor who holds a degree from a Chinese medicine university. My numbness didn’t improved, I also called my surgeon, and he said that the numbness is difficult to solve.
Anyone here has recovered from the numbness? I hope to gain a little bit of confidence.
