Question

Trish,

I’m glad your procedure was a success! I have not had this procedure, but I did have a comment about your continued dull pain/pressure in the same area. My ENT (who is good) was also certain this pain/pressure was a sinus problem. So much so that I ended up having sinus surgery. When I woke up post-op, I was devastated that the pain was still there. This was before I was diagnosed. Morale of the story, the pain you are feeling could very well be related to one of the trigeminal nerve branches & not necessarily your sinuses. Good luck!

Hello all, I have had both the V2 & V3 nerves Subcutaneous Rhyzotomy procedures done in 2012 & Feb 2014. So far so good. Dr Grande at the U of M hospital in Minneapolis has been great.

mrl,

How did your doctor determine the dull pain/pressure was trigeminal nerve related? I am now able to read without triggering a massive headache, but this “dull pain/pressure” increases. I wonder if the nerves relating to reading can somehow be tested.

Also, The genetic syndrome I have, Ehlers Danlos Hypermobility affects collagen/connective tissue throughout the body. Since there is a lot of connective tissue in the eye and nerves that affect movement of the eye, I wonder if EDS is somehow contributing to the pain.

Thank-you very much for your input!

Trish

Trish-
it was a diagnosis of exclusion. once we found the surgery didn’t work, my other symptoms led a doctor friend of mine to question whether TN was the cause. everything fit, & once treated with gabapentin, the pain subsided. your EDH may very well be a factor. wish I could help more… good luck.

Could you share the Dallas ones? I'm just north of Plano. Thanks.
