i began to have burning and then some mild pain in my chin about 4 weeks ago. it has since progressed. the burning and pain HAS intensified. the burning can last for hours at a time or just keep burning. the chin pain fluctuates in intensity. from nagging to nasty. my teeth have become sensitive . both upper and lower.the burning is moving up my face daily.upper lip,cheeks.around my eyes and forehead. i was just at the periodontist yesterday and he told me IT COULD BE TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA of some sort! he injected a small amount of novacane in my chin and in a short time the pain got worse ! HERES THE PROBLEM: i have been a chronic pain patient for about 15 yrs. experiencing all kinds of burners,stingers. twitching,muscles jumping and pain . mostly in my lower body below the head ! but they always came and went! nothing was ever found and so thats where the chronic pain came from! about 4 months ago i started experiencing nasty finger,hand and wrist pain. went to PCP,NEUROLGY and RHEUMATOLOGY! nothing found so it was just more chronic pain! ok more chronic pain ! well regardless of what all that is [but i do know everything in the body is connected] what im experiencing now is a WHOLE NEW BALLGAME ! once you have the chronic pain label it seams everything you experience is now just chronic pain!! once the chin burning and pain started i called my PCP and NEUROLGY and they just said more chronic pain! [I KNOW BETTER]! now the periodontist[he did refer me] wants me to return to the same neurologist i saw 2 months ago for my other issues ! and to tell her about the face pain! i dont know what she will say or do since she dismissed me from her care ! i do have an appointed with PAIN MANAGEMENT in 2 weeks ! my PCP wont do anything more for me until he gets input from any or all of these people ! how do i approach the neorologist regarding these NEW and PAINFUL SYMPTOMPS without her just dismissing them as more chronic pain??? how do i approach my PCP ??? how do i approach the PAIN CLINIC?? do i tell the pain clinic ALL or just about the face issues? then tell all after they say something! or do i just tell them all and see where it goes from there? i would really appreciate anyones solid advice as what im supposed to at least try to do!! ty ---

Hi fuzzy! Where in York are you located? I would suggest seeing another neurologist. They should be able to tell thru an MRI if you have TN. I actually am home recovering from MVD surgery I had on the 3/12/13. It is my second MVD surgery, scar tissue had attached to the nerve and this sometimes happens. My neurologist is Dr Joel Winer. Great neurologist, just hard to get into see him. Get a second opinion!!! ---

i thought about that but the problem was that is was going to take 3 months to get in ! basically u go in as a new patient ! or i could go to the same one and get in in 4 days ! thats another dilemma ! should i wait to see neurolgy until i go to the pain clinic? i go there in 2 weeks 4/1 ! neurolgy this friday3/22. ---

I don't know. I just kept calling every day to see if there was a cancellation. anyways get a second opinion ---

i just now called the pain clinic and asked them to call me if theres a cancellation b4 my scheduled appt ! so ur thinking i shouldnt see the neuroligist i saw b4? i mean this thing is spreading as we speak! its moved up the sides of my nose and into my right eye ! mild burning ! ---

I don't know what on earth to tell you except that I think you need to see a really good neurologist and see what is going on. Good luck to you!
