It’s a weird feeling. I’m giving the pamelor a month to kick in. My pain is weird and it hurts. I want really bad to feel better. This is just very hard. I’ll give it time. I gave elavil a shot for 3 years and it made my pain worse when I took it w tegretol it worked. Found out the tegretol was reducing the metabolism of it. Triliptal increased it effects and am off it but read triliptal and pamelor was a great match but this is the second week on pamelor but still on gabapentin which it does not like either.
I think I just need one anti convulsant. I take baclofen due my jaw hurting. My teeth are wearing away and falling out
Have you been thoroughly checked for an underlying condition (maybe genetic or bone-based) that’s causing the problem? It seems like your teeth are falling out of your head, which makes me wonder if there’s something else going on which would give you a different angle for treatment? Could it be that you’re treating the symptoms rather than the underlying problem?
And that is the million dollar question.
It is not us treating the problem but our doctors.
Try and get them to think outside the tegretol, trileptil box is pretty hard.
And because the symptoms jump around at times it is hard to get a base line.
Just my opinion.
The microsurgeon saw the damage on the X-ray. Other X-rays before the surgery never showed that. I never hurt before either but I have had other X-rays now since I have tmj and have bone tooth loss which could effect muscles near that nerve. I’m getting all my teeth pulled and getting dentures and that should help the tmj there forth helping the nerve damage but as of now no underlying issues
It’s hard but I can get them out. He loves gabapentin and I swear it does nothing. It’s a battle
I hope that your plan works for you.
I am battling pulling my teeth out-but my one gum is very burny sore -so just would not be able to wear dentures anyways-and at least I look half way normal if I don’t open my mouth too wide.
Off to new neurologist Tuesday so am very anxious and trying to get my ducks in a row.
Tell me a little about what the microsurgeon saw?Was he (or she)looking at an old X-ray or did they order a new one?
Appointments are few and far between in Canada,so I need to have all my questions about tests ready.
Thanks
With the bone tooth loss thing… I know nothing abt it but I know there are meds to help with bone loss. One is the category for osteoporosis, meds like fosamax. There are also injection based meds like prolia. And there’s an injection given to chemotherapy patients to help with bone loss whose name escapes me.
Have you had a general bone density scan of your body? It sounds like you qualify for it even tho you’re way too young. Maybe that’s another angle to explore.
Bone stuff is odd. My husband had blounts disease, his lower leg bones grew faster then all others making him cripplingly bo legged. As a sort of side effect to that he had horrible teeth that wore down to nubs by his 30s and a jaw bone too weak for implants.
I wonder if you don’t have an underlying bone issue. You’re too young to lose your teeth because they are “bad” it seems ike something else should be going on, too
Ellen what’s the Tuesday appt for and what do you hope to gain? Forgive me but I can’t recall your details…
Old neurologist gone-and that is the one in pain management. So I have an appointment with new one.Only way to get meds-which the neuro sends report to family doctor.
I am hoping to start fresh with this one and would like input on things to ask for.Or demand(in a nice, sweet way_
I’m sorry about your husband. The only bone loss is in my mouth.I have a lot of recession going on and I believe that’s what’s causing them to go bad plus the enamel just isn’t there. I’ve been to the doctor and to a lot of dentists and the bone issue has never come about my body.
My teeth aren’t nubs. What your saying scares me. I don’t have a bone loss issue. My mouth is just a huge mess
