Multiple Sclerosis and TN

Hi Gary, I’ve just got to see a neurosurgeon about procedures available for people with TN and MS. He is recommending a pain block using the balloon. However, he told me of the complications Such as facial numbness. Which I am just debating if it’s worth it. However I am taking 1600 mg of carbamazepine a day along with 2400 mg of gabapentin per day and about 2800 mg of ibuprofen a day. Needless to say I have been a little spun out with the medication and tired all the time.

Yesterday was my first pain-free day although still medicated. I am unsure who to talk to about reducing my medicines. I am unsure who to ask for help. My neurologist is not very helpful. I will wait until I have a couple pain-free days.

Scheduled to meet with an MS specialist next month and have a an MRI of my trigeminal nerve done. This is to confirm there is nothing else that is triggering the TN.
