I had MVD Sept 23, 2015.
Procedure was performed by Dr MESIWALA at St. BERNADINE HOSPITAL. Fantastic staff, knowledgeable about brain surgery and observation for complications, I had had surgery several hours prior , and my nurses noticed the slightest change, rushed me to CT scan, saved me from cerebral bleed and stroke! .
No more severe facial pain attacks, but the post surgical procedures healing is wearing me down, lots of mputh, lip, taste flavor, sense of smell and nostril mixed messages.
Lips burning when I’m sitting up, worsening when active. No issues when laying flat.
Had to use a walker post op for double vision, severe swaying, felt like trying to walk on a storming boat.
Moments of sway still hit, no more double vision, no more narcotics after 30 plus years.
Many blessings from surgery, but lips are making me absolutely nuts.
So I’ve decided to watch movies and lay down today, even missed church
Yesterday was awful, lots of lip burning which is driving me crazy.
My husband tells me to research myself to ignore it…Really
Today, I’ve got face pain, lips burning. …really wanted the surgery to end magically. …feeling very disappointed
I am so sorry that your surgery has caused the burning. I had the surgery when I was real young but did have burning in my lips. I had gamma knife last year, and my whole side of my face burns.
I do know this. With the surgery, gradually feeling would return, not all the way but it seemed to settle down somewhat. Give it time. Hopefully, it will calm down. Still so sorry you're in pain and disappointed. Take care.
