Medications is this true?

Neurosurgeon are more knowledgable on TN than neurologists. Even if you don’t want surgery, you should get a second opinion on this. I used the list of doctors for state that is provided on this website. These are usually found at hospital teaching school where research is being done on this rare disease. A lot of doctors including neurologists have never seen a case of TN.

Thank you Linda, Im sorry for your ordel . You gave me hope. My oral surgeon is convinced I have TN. Threw Tergatol at me, made me very sick. Now wants to throw more anti seizure stuff at me. My neuro says it’s not TN but wants me to go to pain clinic. He’s at a teaching hospital. I’m trying Accupunture and cold laser theraphy. ill try the cream, can u put it in your mouth or on your skin? I need to be functional so I’m trying to deal. Don’t know how long I will last. Very hard to eat or talk. Thank you. Seeing a neurosurgeon seemed strange but I can see now how they would be more knowledgable. But it seems that the same drugs are used in this situation as well as classic TN.

I use capsician cream one year later from injury. My pain was there but decreasing in severity. I used the cream on my face where my tooth was behind. Sometimes I used oral gel on the gum. Also I used DynaFreeze from footsmart.com on my face because it is stronger than Biofreeze. I liked accupunture a lot. It did help to reduce the pain a lot at first; but my specialist change the way she did the first 5 treatment, and the pain got bad again. I wonder why she changed it? Teaching hospital and neurosurgeons all the best. There is a list of doctors at the top of the website for each states. Some neurologists have never seen a case of TN. It is very rare. Doctors use antiseizure medications for chronic pain for long term use instead of narcotics. Please go to ohsu.edu and click on the words in blue to take the Facial Pain Diagnosis Tool. This was created by neurosurgeon - Dr. Kim
Burcheil at Oregeon Health and Science University. This where I found what I had - damaged to trigeminal nerve. Oral surgeons, dentist, and edonotist
think that TN is a disease and not a injury or long term infection. Did you have pain before you went to dentist? Was there nothing wrong with that tooth? I had my tooth pulled because of so much pain against the advice of my neurologist, and I was told nothing wrong with the tooth. The pain did move to next tooth. That one reason I thought I had TN2. I had no remission - constant tooth pain except when sleeping. My pain slowly decrease to no pain. It took 2 years for the pain to go away. It was a 2 long years. Let me know what the questionare results are. It gave me hope.

The progress is very slow. I dealt with a lot of pain because I was having problems with Lyrica. I try to go as long as I could without increasing. I had a very traumatic withdrawal that took over a year to get back to normal. I was convinced that I had TN. I am so glad mine went away. I read on this websites 2 different women who pain went away too. So don’t give up hope.
2 neurologists said I did not have TN but I was not convinced. They were right. It is good if your neurologist says you don’t have it.
