Thanks Ziggy.
Because of how things work in my world-I hate to tar every one in Canada with the same brush-that is not possible. The doctor works out of various places-so leaving message with receptionist would just be so unreliable.I found an e-mail address on google and sent an e-mail to it.Maybe some poor soul is wondering what lamotrigine is.
I am heading to my pharmacy to get the mouth swish-and also to find out about the codeine(there was a mistake so pharmacy will not fill script) and let them deal with it.
Might try a topical with it in a week or two.Google says it can be done.
Thanks for your concern.
It takes several weeks to titrate up on lamictal. Are you sure lamictal has reversed on you after so few doses? Or is it because youāve changed off a different med and the decrease in that med has increased the pain? Donāt forget the stress caused by this new doc office is probably making the pain worse as well. Stress always makes pain worse.
I contacted my doctor and the doctor said STOP-so maybe there has been some experience with this.
Other drug went down-but that was my emergency pain med-but because the script for was incorrect I still have the extra doses-for another week.
Cymbalta was the same-2 weeks of crying and wanting to die-but at least it took the pain down for those two weeks. When I needed to titrate up,I stopped.
So,ya,I had hope for it,but I guess the Lord does not want me to take it,otherwise the Lord would have answered my prayer.
Ellen5, So sorry the med didnāt work. I agree with Ziggy - if it causes problems itās not worth taking. I hate trying all these meds that end up not helping but guess we donāt have any other choice. Iāve tried so many I may be out of options. I had a death in the family and my doctor prescribed lorazepam .5 every 8 hours. This is only a temporary measure to help me get past the grief. He will not prescribe it on a regular basis. It does seem to be helping with the grief but also the face pain so I am getting some temporary relief. I hope they get the problem with your other prescription fixed.
My condolences on the death in your family.
It is funny how I have become a drug seeker.I hate the things but want this monster inside my face gone.
I am thinking the weird pimples I have been getting on my chin since the beginning of October are a herpes outbreak.
Never had anything like this before,so never thought of that-but it came up in searches and you can get cold sores on your chin.
So back to the doctor-but will be starting that anti-viral protocol with olive leaf.
I feel more ME today.
Yesterday I was someone else.
HSV-1 is a latent herpes virus which can infect the cranial nerves. Maybe the root of the problem is a herpes virus that has infected the cranial ganglia nervous system? That could explain why more traditional meds arenāt working as expected.
Hi there
I am much better today.
Doctor did swabs of my chin for bacteria and herpes.
He says they are just pimples-but they are not.(I could be wrong but was willing to bet on it)
No meds
So olive leaf protocol started.
The neurologist will see me next week for the next trial or a drug.
I hope you are doing OK
You are always so kind and helpful.
Thank You
Iām so glad youāre feeling more stable! It can be such a nightmare and horrible roller coaster! But at least you know itās med based and reaction to unrelenting pain and that you arenāt actually losing your mind.
It sounds like you need to stay out of the general antidepressant category. What about anti-seisure meds? Very low doses of depakote or keppra or trileptal? And for now what about daily pain med protocol to get you through?
Trileptal is a no go.Tried and stopped
On a ton of gabapentin/
I was understanding that lamotrigine was an anti seizure med.
With a ton of other stuff in it-but I did not think it would do what it did.
So far the only thing that helps is codeine.
And they want me off it.
hence-I will be pursuing the free heroin that Canada will be giving out at the end of the year.
Crazy times up here in the cold country.
Take pain patients off the meds that help them but prescribe heroin to junkies.I guess I can say I am junky with the codeine .
I donāt exactly understand the issue with codiene. Yes, itās a controlled med that works as a pain med but it has the side effect of making basically everyone taking it throw up if they take too much so itās really hard to abuse. Maybe you need to start the annoying process of interviewing doctors again? I know I talked to almost two dozen neuro before I found the woman whoās been taking care of me for the past 16 years. Right now Iām looking for a GP, makes me crazy, but what can you do? You have to find someone you can work with and who understands what youāre dealing with on a daily basis ā chronic conditions and particularly chronic pain need very specific care that can, unfortunately be very hard to get.
Ellen5, So glad you are feeling better now that you are off the med. I donāt know anything about codeine. If it is working why do they want you off of it? I know what you mean about drug seeking. We really arenāt doing that - just trying to get relief from the unrelenting pain. Too bad we are made to feel that way.
Itās a bit different in Canada. All the doctors go to the States,it seems. So,very lucky to get an appointment,at all.2 consults with different doctors is what is allowed. That is my understanding.
Totally different system.
Good luck finding a new GP.
Walk in clinics are what many Canadians are relegated to.In Canada, when my doctor goes,I doubt I will have another one.And most pain clinics will not see you unless you have a family doctor.
So,I am one of the lucky ones, not being facetiousā¦
