Getting Very Fustrated and in much pain too!

Hi Everyone

I am getting so very discouraged and don't know where to turn anymore. I believe I have type11 atypical TN. Mine is constant 24 hr 7 days a week pain.I am currently taking 1200 mg of Horizant (Time released Neurotin) , 100 mg of Topamax and an additional 300 mg of neurotin in between and tramadol if needed for pain. I am a walking zombie and I still have pain and feel horrible every day. I have been to 3 neurologist and all they do is give me more pills. I am curently trying to work with my insurance company and my primary care doctor to go see a specialist out of network in my state who specializes in TN and was just told I was not approved by my insurance company today after just having another MRI this week. I am just lost at this point and do not no where to turn. Is it hopeless for people like me with my situation to try and pursue alternative procedures with type2 TN? Living with the constant day to day relentless pain is gruelling(2yrs now) and any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thank you all and God Bless!

Sue,

No. Some of us have found alternative medicine to help. One of our members found relief through Upper Cervical Chiro. Some have found relief through acupuncture. We understand what you are going through and know the pill parade. This may not be the answer you hoped for, but sometimes it takes a while and going through trials to find the right combination of medications to work for you. Keep reading through the information here and on the FPA site. I know you will find the right solution. I wish you well.

I think you are doing the right thing. Get to a neurosurgeon who deals with TN and get something done. Hopefully you can do the MVD. Good luck!

I had an mvd but it was unsuccessful . I would not recommend it for atypical TN or type 2. I am taking morphine along with Amitriptyline and Gabapentin
