Baclofen

Porcelina, I'm not sure where you live in Canada, but if your close enough to the states you could probably see a neuro here for half that. Many times here in the states, if you don't have insurance, the will give you a reduced rate, and work with you on payments. Just an idea. Could you go to the ER and get it prescribed there maybe? Hope you find some releif soon! Take care.

I tried today to get baclofen (again, this time a different GP) and I felt like crying when I got home. He said that no GP here will prescribe baclofen ("because it is such a nasty drug"), despite me carrying medical literature supporting baclofen from medical journals - a nurse always does their research! He said that I need to see a neuro to get it prescribed. I am already on the waiting list for one publicly, the GP said a private consult with one would cost me about $500-$700 :(((( I also need to see a neuro to get a referral to the pain service as they like a specialist to make a formal diagnosis apparently.

I am feeling very frustrated and angry!!!!

That is awesome news :)

Hi..I take trileptal 1800mg/day, baclofen 40mg/day, cymbalta 60mg/day, amytripyline 20mg/day...I have to say this is the best combo I have been on in 5 years!!! I am PAINFREE during the day and have some mild pain once I start getting tired!! Sometimes a combination of meds works way better than just a single med. I have titrated up slowly as needed and I have zero side effects. I have been told an antiseizure, muscle relaxer, and antidepressant, is a gold standard combo for TN. I have a neurologist who specializes in TN and I am so very thankful!! I hope this helps!! ((HUGS))

I take baclofen 5mg 2xday and 10mg at bedtime but I also take 900mg of neurotin 3xday and 300mg trileptal 3xday. It definately helps and I actually get a full night sleep…finally. I still get break thru pain and I have bad days but it could be so muuch worse. Yes I lack motivation but its worth the trade off. You get used to it after a bit and you make the most out of the time you are up to doing things

Hi Red
If you are reading this, I like to tell you that some time ago you had sent the format of a form to be filled in by those suffering from TN to enable us who could not speak during a sudden onset of attack when patient cannot talk the form does the talking. I request you to email the form, which I missed, to download it. I look forward to ur reply.

Yes

I use it to help me sleep better sometimes, but that is all it does for me.
